Ingredients:
1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
1/2 cup sliced salami
1/2 cup sliced
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
PREPARATION:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, approximately 12×15 inches.
Add the Sauce and Cheese: Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
Layer the Meats and Veggies: Evenly distribute the pepperoni, salami, ham, black olives, bell peppers, and mushrooms over the cheese.
Roll the Stromboli: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, pinching the edges to seal as you go. Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Season and Brush: Brush the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg to give it a golden color as it bakes. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder over the top.
Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Cool and Slice: Allow the stromboli to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
Tips:
For a crispier crust, bake the stromboli on a pizza stone if you have one.
Feel free to customize the fillings based on your preferences or what you have on hand. Other great additions include sautéed spinach, artichoke hearts, or sun-dried tomatoes.
If the stromboli starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil and continue baking until the center is cooked through.
Enjoy your Italian Stromboli!
