Ingredients:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 medium apples, peeled and chopped
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup milk
For the Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2-3 teaspoons milk
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
Cinnamon Mixture: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
Prepare Apples:
Toss the chopped apples with a little bit of the cinnamon mixture. Set aside.
Bread Batter:
In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
In a separate dish, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
Gradually incorporate the flour combination into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and finishing with the flour mixture.
Assemble Bread:
Pour half of the bread batter into the loaf pan.
Layer half of the apples on top, followed by half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon mixture.
Use a knife to swirl through the batter gently.
Bake: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Glaze: Mix powdered sugar with milk to form a smooth glaze. Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
This bread is a delicious twist on classic apple fritters!
